LeBron breaks NBA record with first game of season

LeBron James made history by becoming the first NBA player to appear in 23 straight seasons when he suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. At 40, James had been sidelined for the first 14 games of the season due to sciatica, but he returned to post 11 points, 12 assists and three rebounds in 30 minutes during a 140‑126 home victory over the Utah Jazz. His performance lifted him past Vince Carter’s record of 22 consecutive seasons and pushed him ahead of Reggie Miller into sixth place on the all‑time three‑point list. Teammate Luka Dončić praised James, noting his strong comeback and anticipating his continued impact. Dončić led the Lakers with a game‑high 37 points, four steals, ten assists and five rebounds, while Austin Reaves added 26 points. For Utah, Keyonte George scored 34 and Lauri Markkanen 31. The win moved the Lakers into fourth place in the Western Conference, with the Jazz dropping to tenth.
